Salò and Gardone Riviera
You can easily reach Salò, a popular town of Garda rising on the homonymous gulf from the village of San Felice del Benaco, where the Camping Village La Gardiola is located. Once you cross the countryside close to the lake, the road opens out towards the splendid panorama of the Gulf and the promenade with the bell tower of the cathedral standing between the historical palaces. Stroll through history along the centre of Salò: the Podestà Palace, which housed the “Magnifica Patria” council (“Palace of the Magnificent Fatherland”), now housing the municipality, the Palazzo Fantoni, the palaces along Lungolago Zanardelli and the beautiful Cathedral, inside which you can admire works of art in wood and Veronese canvas, Zenon and Paolo Veneziano. Heading north you will reach the Italian Vittoriale (the shrine of Italian victories), home of the famous poet Gabriele d’Annunzio in Gardone Riviera. The Vittoriale is a complex of buildings with bizarre shapes, surrounded by beautiful gardens with water games, hosting various works, the war museum, a rich library and the amazing open-air theatre which hosts the Summer Festival, a rich Season of Shows.
