Natura Viva Park and Sigurtà Garden Park
For those staying at the Piccola Gardiola, a visit to the Natura Viva Park and the Sigurtà Garden Park cannot be missed.
Located in Bussolengo, just 45 km from the campsite, Parco Natura Viva, one of the most important in Italy, hosts many endangered species and participates in numerous projects for the conservation and protection of endangered flora and fauna. Here it is possible to carry out many routes, admiring rare specimens and reproductions of extinct animals. Do not miss the Paths of Africa route, where visitors can, thanks to the natural barriers, observe animals closely in complete safety. The last section inaugurated is the Serra dei Giganti, a 1600 square meter pavilion dedicated to the theme of gigantism in nature, with Komodo dragons, giant otters, giant butterflies, anacondas and much more. The Natura Viva Park, founded in 1969, still receives large numbers of visitors from all over the world, attracted by the uniqueness of the routes it offers and its immense wildlife heritage.
The Parco Giardino Sigurtà, 43 km from Gardiola and whose foundation dates back to 1417, won the second prize as the most beautiful park in Europe 2015 edition. At the park it is possible to admire every year, in the months of March and April, one million of tulips, which represent the largest flowering in all of Southern Europe; the avenue of roses, which from May to September hosts the flowering of 30,000 roses; its huge labyrinth, inaugurated in 2011 in place of the former parking lot, with 18 pools of water in which aquatic plants flourish. Between flowery expanses, huge green meadows look out along the whole park, which has the size of 60 hectares.
